Meet Our Founder
Growing up in the Sauna capital of the world, the North Shore of Lake Superior, with strong Scandinavian roots, I have been in the Sauna since infancy. Weekly sauna was a family tradition throughout the long winters. Summers were spent on the lake, in the sauna, back in the lake, and back in the sauna again. Community saunas, sauna rentals and pop up events are simply common place and easily accessible.
When I left Minnesota and took off into the world as an adult, I was shocked by the lack of sauna, everywhere else I traveled! There was no simple way to search for local saunas. My efforts typically turned me toward luxury spas or expensive gym memberships. Occasionally, I could find a lone mobile sauna rental scattered around the country. Outside of Minnesota, I simply could not find sauna!
So, I invested in a portable sauna, as it is an essential wellness practice, and began sharing it with my friends, family and the greater community. The more I shared sauna, the more I saw the need, for more sauna! While sauna is an ancient tradition dating back over 7,000 years, there has been a recent trend toward thermal therapy. Many people have discovered the health benefits of sauna, science has supported and applauded it, and individuals are increasingly adding home saunas and cold plunges to their private practice. The Stoke for Sauna is spreading, yet in many areas, the cohesive, community access is still lacking. Stoked Sauna Share was created for this reason. To simplify the search for sauna, to connect sauna community world wide, and increase accessibility to sauna for all who share the stoke!!!
